What a great invitation!! I’ve never done this before but I feel so joyful that I have been invited to share. I’m now offering a free, short program (35 minutes) for senior groups; the program is lively, inspirational and shares dramatized stories of elders who (accept or refuse to) change. “Pioneering Over-the-Hill” it’s called. If you know a group of elders who could use such a program, call Midge Verhein, 214-691-6820. If you want to check on the validity of this offering, contact Claudine Jones at Senior Source in Dallas: 214-823-5700 x224.
Love the quote of Francis Lucille about looking closely at what is to put an end to the hypnotized mind. When we are willing to see what has our attention from moment to moment we see how hypnotized we are by the content of our experience weather it is habitual thoughts around the same topic(s) or our habitually being entertained by the same feelings or sensations.
Are we living as a true artist composing our life fresh and new each moment or are we just juxtaposing information we’ve learned and stored in our minds onto the screen on the now.
This sounds like a good project (if I may call it that) that you have started here. Eckhardt Tolle is good, no doubt. But there are other more mature souls. You have mentioned one i.e. Nisargadatta Maharaj. Others I like and respect are Osho and Ramana Maharshi (Nisargadatta’s guru). Do start a discussion, I will respond. Re. M
Instead of a discussion about teachers, I’d be more interested if you’d like to share how a certain teacher has been helpful to you. An example of what was said, heard, or done and the impact.
A simple thank you to Jordan — as I understand you are responsible for this site I’ve received daily now for about a year. The short messages from Brown and Tolle are the heart of it for me. The sidebars and links and other resources also take me into rich places.
The reminders — and so much of the path is about reminders and gentle encouragement around staying the course, a kind of enlivening of faith — are a sweet part of the morning that affect the course of the day. Again, I feel gratitude for your offering of this gift.
Blessings, Carleton
